Celery Goals

Medical Medium Celery Juice Goals

31 August 2023

Last week, I sat in a local coffee shop, pretending to work. I was trying to think of some fantabulous debut blog post. The woman beside me spoke louder than I could hear myself think – all the while wolfing down her soft eggs. Once finished, she pushed the yolk-splattered plate into my workstation. I left. It wasn’t my day. I couldn’t write. About anything.

But this week I feel different. Refreshed. Ready. And energized. I’m sharing what’s on my mind NOW. I’ve mentioned that I want to teach, and this is one of my new platforms that I intend using. Look at the ABOUT page for more about me. But for now, I’m diving in. And keeping the promise to myself that I will publish this blog post by the end of August.

In the past few years I’ve had phases (especially during lockdown) where I’ve gulped down celery juice every morning. The concept was introduced to me by Anthony William, the Medical Medium (you guessed it). This blog post is not about telling you to drink celery juice, nor to discuss Anthony’s credibility. All I will say in this regard, is that I have tried it. And I felt good. Really good.

What’s interesting though, is that after a lengthy break, I tried to resume this daily habit (recently) during winter. But somehow, I couldn’t sustain it. I concluded the following:

  • Celery juice, no matter how fresh, was not calling me first thing (coffee was)

  • My body was resisting. The juice wasn’t going down too easily when I tried

  • I also hadn’t really (really) made a firm commitment to myself that I was going to drink celery juice. My intention was vague

But Spring is almost here (in the Southern Hemisphere), and my body feels more receptive to the thought of (and in need of) a daily dose of celery juice. On more than one occasion, I’ve encouraged people to try celery juice. One of whom is my sister. She’s always resisted. But, last week, out of the blue, she announced that she’s committed to drinking celery juice for 40 days. So, boy, I hopped onto HER bandwagon and we are holding each other accountable. We’ve both got a checklist on our fridge and we’re sending each other a picture of our drink each morning. Sounds cheesy? Yes. But it’s effective. There’s no cheating or quitting now. We’re in it for the 40 days.

We’re 10 days in. And I’m 100% convinced we’ll see it through.

But why I am so convinced?

Well, we’ve taken the following STEPS:

  • It feels right. It has to. And it’s in line with the season change.

  • We have a very specific 40-day plan. There is no reference to it being forever.

  • We are also serious about the promise we have made to ourselves. Keeping this promise builds self-confidence and self-trust. It’s not negotiable.

  • We’ve partnered with someone on a similar mission. We’re accountable to one another.

  • We don’t have 5 or 6 co-running goals. We’ve started with one and can add more once the rhythm is set.

  • We each have a printed daily checklist on our fridge. Watching the ticks pile up is super-inspiring.
(You can view our checklist below.)

  • And we’ve announced the plan!

You can apply these steps to any goal. No matter how small. Don’t underestimate the power of these steps. It’s easy to say that they’re trivial, but how many goals have you set, only to quit on day 2? If you’ve lost confidence in yourself, building confidence starts with setting one small goal again. Once you achieve that goal, you’ll want to set more goals. And they grow.

I’ll report back after 40 days…
